#10 Bryant Elementary

4101 East Fountain Street, Long Beach, CA 90804

The surrounding area is slightly rough and the roads around the school is very narrow which is not ideal for morning drop off traffic. But on average there are 20 students per teacher which gives teachers more time to engage with each student. The school prides itself with a culturally diverse school.

#9 Cubberley K-8 School

3200 Monogram Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90808

Cubberley is also a K-8 school and also in a nice neighborhood. It’s also a small school with a population of 950 students total. English scores are at 35% above average, Math at 47% above average, and Science at 30% above average. The school also offers advanced courses with a very high participation rate.

#8 Patrick Henry K-8 School

3720 Canehill Avenue, Long Beach, CA 90808

It is a K-8 school located in a nice neighborhood and very safe inside and around. The test scores are above average. English scores are at 47% above average, Math at 35% above average, and Science at 30% above average. There is an average of 26 students per teacher and many of those teachers having 3 years or more experience in teaching.

#7 Gant Elementary

1854 North Britton Drive, Long Beach, CA 90815

If you’re planning on living in the area for the next 16 years then the neighborhood around Gant Elementary is the spot. Not only is there a elementary in the area, there’s also California State University Long Beach right next to the elementary school. The test scores are quite impressive as well. With English scores at 47% above average, Math at 35% above average, and Science at 30% above average. The school is also quite diverse compared to other schools thus far in the list.

#6 Fremont Elementary

4000 East 4th Street, Long Beach, CA 90814

Fremont Elementary is a school that takes pride in how great they are. The school has the same state test average as Gant Elementary They used to have a 10/10 around 2011-2012. The school is surrounded by a decent neighborhood, nothing to be concerned about in the area. Later down the lines the school rating dropped to an 8/10. The PTA seems to be very close knit and “exclusive” causing many parents concerns about them.

#5 Carver Elementary

5335 East Pavo Street, Long Beach, CA 90808

This school has great reviews and excellent academic scores. The test scores such as English scores at 47% above average, Math at 35% above average, and Science at 30% above average like many other schools. The school has a 81% reading proficiency as well as a 74% Math proficiency. The school is also ranked #3 on Best Elementary Schools in Long Beach Unified School District District.

#4 Burcham Elementary

5610 East Monlaco Road, Long Beach, CA 90808

Burcham is a popular school in the Long Beach area. Students with disabilities make up 5% of the school population which is the largest thus far on the list. The school also ranks top 30% on test scores within California. The school also accept many students from low income homes. Around the school is all residential and a nice neighborhood so you can be at ease knowing your child will be safe.

#3 Bixby Elementary

5251 E Stearns St, Long Beach, CA 90815

Over all a good school. In a nice area, above average test scores, good teachers, etc. The reading average within the district for this school is 57% and math is 54%. Has a even ratio between girls and boys enrolled in the school. There are 50% boys and 50% girls. The school is also ranked #12 in Long Beach Unified School District Elementary schools.

#2 Prisk Elementary

2375 Fanwood Ave, Long Beach, CA 90815

Prisk Elementary is one of the highest rated elementary schools in Long Beach Unified school district. The school is known for having high test scores and notorious for being a nice and great school. The school also offers and after school program if parents aren’t able to come pick up their kids on time. The after school program is $50 and if your child is from a low income house hold the program is free.

#1 Newcomb Academy

3351 Val Verde Ave, Long Beach, CA 90808

At the #1 spot Newcomb takes the cake. Since it’s a K-8 school, the school is ranked in two categories in Long Beach Unified School District. The school is ranked #1 in Long Beach Unified School District Middle Schools and also ranked #2 in Long Beach Unified School District Elementary Schools. The school has an average 76% math proficiency and 80% reading proficiency.

Over all many parents had concerns about leadership in majority of these school reviews. Though it’s very important for a child to have a great adult to support him/her, do students need a leader or someone they can rely and need on in times of need. Many parents have concerns in varying degrees so it’s hard to make everyone happy with a local elementary school.
